Trio Arrested With $30 Million in Cocaine on Cruise

cocaineThese three Canadian misfits cruised halfway around the world, but their dream vacation has come to a screeching halt after being found with the equivalent of $30.5 million of cocaine in their luggage. They are now facing life in prison.

After months at sea, they were at their last stop on their cruise in Sydney, Australia, when they were greeted by border agents, the police and sniffer dogs.

After an exchange of info between the Canadian Border Service Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this cruise ship was quickly targeted, with good reason. After searching the ship’s 2,000 rooms, they discovered 95 kilos of cocaine in the suitcases of Andre Tamine, 63, Isabelle Lagace, 28, and Melina Roberge, 22, all from Canada.

The two women had been documenting their journey regularly on social media, but it has yet to be determined if they were working with the older man who was arrested.

It’s no coincidence that Australia has a reputation for having higher local prices for cocaine and the three had cocaine ready to take into Australia! It was estimated that the value of the drugs was $30.5 million, a record seizure from a cruise ship!

Authorities are now working to find out where the drugs were brought into the ship and through which port they entered. The cruise had traveled to several ports in North America, the Caribbean and South America, specifically Colombia and Peru.

Looks like the good times are over for these three! It’s a good thing they had a nice summer, because chances are, they’re going to be spending many summers to come in prison!
