This was quite the “Adventure in Babysitting!” While the child is generally the one getting into a bit of mischief, this case was the opposite. The bad babysitter has been accused of using the boy he was watching to help him steal from someone’s house.
Police responded to a 911 call that reported a 6-year-old boy dragging a suitcase down the street. When the cops arrived, they found the boy, who turned out to be 10, in possession of proceeds of an apparent burglary, along with his teenage babysitter. When cops questioned the babysitter, he gave them a fake name and age.
The 16-year-old teen has now been charged with burglary, two counts of grand larceny and criminal mischief, which are all felonies. He also has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal impersonation, which are misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in court and stayed in jail in lieu of a $20,000 bail bond. The 10-year-old was released to a family member.
